Brain Interface Gaming
It's finally here! A company called Emotiv will begin retailing their brain-controlled gaming interface, the Epoc, later on this year for a mere $300. This device uses Electroencephalography (EEG) technology to "detect over 30 facial expressions, emotions and actions" (DailyTech.com) and transmit them via a wireless connection to a USB-based adapter. This marks the first time that such technology will be available for the consumer market and will surely revolutionize not just the gaming industry, but our entire electronic society as well. I say again—cyberpunk as a science fiction genre never died, but rather it became today's news. Over and out.
